All right, all right. We are on episode 180 of the podcast. Today is Friday, January the 3rd, 2025.

Now I'm excited to kick off the first podcast of 2025 with you. Today, we're diving into the idea of a high performance mindset. What it means, why it's essential, and how to cultivate it.

You know, last week we talked about turning reflection into action, creating a bridge between where you've been and where you're headed. Well, today we'll build on that and focus on what truly drives success in the new year, mindset. Here's what's on today's agenda.

First, we'll look at a quote from Dr. Nido Kubein, a prominent motivational speaker and author. Then we'll look at why resolutions can sometimes feel like a trap. We'll explore quantum thinking, a concept I first encountered in the wealthy consultant program, and how it can elevate your mindset.

And finally, I'll share some personal insights and practical strategies for staying aligned, consistent, and focused in 2025. Turning to our quote of the week, let me share this with you to kick things off. Your present circumstances don't determine where you can go.

They merely determine where you start. And that's again from Dr. Nido Kubein. I love this quote because it reminds us that no matter where we are, our next steps are what define our path.

With that in mind, let's start the year off right with some perspective change. I want to start our program by addressing the elephant in the room, new year resolutions and the challenging pressure to make them. You see, for a lot of people, resolutions feel more like obligations than opportunities.

I remember when I used to write out these long lists every January. Do this. Fix that. Stop doing this. But by February, I'd completely forgotten all about them. I often ended up browbeating myself for falling off track.

Here's what I realized was the problem with making resolutions. Resolutions are often about fixing what's wrong instead of building on what's right. They create pressure, and instead of motivating us, they can paralyze us.

What I discovered works much better, especially for myself, is to focus on alignment, making sure my goals and actions reflect who I am and what matters most to me. And that's where mindset comes in. Instead of saying, I need to do this, I switched it to asking, what do I truly want and how can I make space for that? It's a shift that moved me from pressure to purpose.

If you can make the same switch, I'm sure you'll see the immediate difference and improvement. Now let's talk about quantum thinking. I first came across this concept in the Wealthy Consultant program, and it's been transformational in how I approach my challenges and my opportunities.

At its core, quantum thinking reshapes how we perceive challenges and opportunities. It fosters a mindset, especially for me, that's dynamic, flexible, and open to new possibilities. It's more of a positive than it is a negative.

It moves us beyond binary thinking, the either-or, and moves us towards embracing complexity and multiple possibilities simultaneously, what a lot of people call both-and perspective. Quantum thinking is also about stepping back and seeing connections that you might otherwise miss. It's non-linear, it doesn't follow a straight line, and that makes it what is so effective in so many cases.

Here's how quantum works. Instead of focusing on one isolated problem or goal, quantum thinking invites you to look at the bigger picture, the sweeping arc around what your problem is. You start asking questions like, how do we get the best outcome in the fewest steps? See, that's a quantity and quality at the same time.

And you might ask yourself, what ripple effects could a decision create for the future? These are consequence questions, and they can really help us understand the underlying aspect of what we're dealing with that we might be missing on a regular basis. For me, the benefits of quantum are immense. It's brought incredible clarity to my decision making, helping me avoid unnecessary detours, and keeping me aligned with my long-term vision.

I'm one of those visionary-style people that I think through what I can, and then I move on to the next thing. And the challenge to that is, vision has to be that next thing, further. Quantum is also about not doing more.

It's about thinking in a broader, more integrated approach to achieving your goals. Good example of quantum here for you. I once had a client, he's a CEO for a medical group, and his questions for me invariably cut tangentially across a problem or a question.

Instead of following a linear first, next, next, final solution, he would start with a problem statement, jump to my personal answer, and then weave his way back and forth, moving through from problem to solution. He'd test my opinions and presumptions until there was a clear end-to-end answer. Now, if the process broke down at any point along the way, we could revert to the problem and switch to the next possible answer, repeating the process.

This often meant that I would have multiple meetings with him, because I had to come up with maybe a different answer. Many times at the time, I was still in linear thinking. So for me, I had to work my way through that linearity and then present it to him.

This process that he was using forced everyone, including myself, to be outcomes-based, which allowed him to refine a clear vision for everyone of what the process would be like. Now, several advantages were clear in doing this. There were fewer questions that came from others.

Another one was that everyone knew what to do along the way. That's that clarity of vision that he was able to develop because of this process. And thus, everyone confidently worked to the same outcome.

The biggest advantage was by doing it this way, a normal one-hour meeting could be concluded in 15 minutes or less. Now, that's a great example of quantum thinking in action, one that I incorporated into my own process. Having made the shift myself, I believe it would most likely help almost anyone achieve far more in much less time, which is the quantum way.

So let's talk about building a high-performance mindset using that quantum approach. How do we cultivate this kind of mindset? For me, it starts with three key principles. Clarity, consistency, and alignment.

First is clarity. If you don't know where you're going, how can you expect to get there, right? It's an age-old question. I have started each year by revisiting my vision, not just for my business, but for my life.

What do I want to achieve? What matters most to me that I want to get done this year? Next is consistency. Now, as I've been told many times, especially from Mike Walker, big results come from small repeated actions. It's not about doing everything perfectly.

It's about showing up every day, making small but measurable progress. And finally, alignment. This means ensuring that what you're working on aligns with your values and long-term goals.

If something feels off, it probably is. I like to trust that intuition. It gets me further without having to make the obvious mistakes that I would normally make.

And it gets me further as well because there are little warning signs that we might normally miss, but intuition will find them and see them for us. Most importantly, like any muscle, the more you use your intuition, the stronger it becomes. Now for you, these principles might look a little different.

Maybe it's about setting boundaries to protect your time, creating systems that keep you focused. The point is to build a mindset that supports and not sabotages your success. Now let's look at some actionable steps and sustain momentum as a topic.

We're going to look at a few practical steps that keep this mindset alive and throughout the year to be able to achieve momentum over movement. Number one, reflect daily. Take five minutes at the end of each day to ask yourself what worked, what didn't, what can I adjust, and use that to strike a new balance tomorrow.

Number two, stay flexible. Remember, quantum thinking teaches us to adapt. If something isn't working, be willing to pivot.

It's okay to change course as long as it brings you closer to whatever you define as success. And the third one is to create accountability. Share your goals with someone you trust.

For me, sharing these goals with my operator has been invaluable in staying on track. They're the person that keeps the day-to-day running while I focus on the bigger pictures on items like just doing a podcast. Momentum isn't about doing everything at once.

It's about doing the right things consistently. By focusing on clarity, consistency, and alignment, you'll not only achieve your goals, but also enjoy the journey as well. Now as a recap, we've covered some powerful ideas.

Why resolutions often fail, the impact and process of quantum thinking, and building a sustainable high performance mindset. If there's one thing I hope you take away, it's this. The way you approach the new year sets the tone for everything that follows, and that includes the following year.

Now next week, we'll dive into the secrets to scaling without losing control, and I'm going to go heavily into a lot of the processes that I've learned from the wealthy consultant for that topic. If you're looking to grow your business without feeling overwhelmed, that episode will be packed with a lot of insights to help you scale with confidence and safely. Until then, remember this, your mindset is the foundation of everything you do.

Invest in it, nurture it, and watch what happens. That's it for this episode. I hope you picked up some valuable insights and maybe even sparked a few new ideas.
